For the love of farming…and bacon.

Established in 2019 by Patty Niculescu and Drew Cohen.

We are a family owned and operated small scale farm raising pigs, sheep, goats, chickens, turkeys and geese. Meat shares (pork, lamb and goat) and eggs are available year round. We believe in farming and raising livestock a more natural and humane way, with our main goal being to produce a a superior product to that which is available in grocery stores.

We are passionate about educating about small scale farming, being self sustainable and living off the land, especially to the youth - our future! We always wanted to share the experience of our farm and offer our products to the community. Our dream was to create an environment where families and their children can explore farming, learn about our animals and have hands on interaction.

We are special needs friendly and are happy to cater to your child/young adults needs so that they too can have the opportunity to enjoy a safe place to learn and benefit from a farm experience. We pride ourselves on raising our livestock humanely and in a natural setting (like the good old days!)

About our Pork

Piney Pig & Poultry Farm is a small family owned and operated farm raising various poultry and meat pigs including Herford/Berkshire/Duroc crosses, Idaho Pasture Pigs, Red Wattle, Gloucestershire Old Spot, Large White, and other heritage breeds and/or mixed heritage breeds.

Our pigs are born and raised humanely at our farm in the Pine Barrens. Unlike factory farmed pigs, our pigs live outdoors so they can get fresh air, sunshine and dirt to root through. We believe in a more “old school” natural style of farming. Our pigs are gently handled and they even get belly rubs and lots of love so when the time comes, we feel good about the life we’ve given them. We raise our hogs on a locally sourced custom feed mix which provides all the nutrients, minerals and vitamins they need to stay healthy and ultimately provide a good quality meat. Occasionally, we will spoil our pigs with some produce – but they are raised on 100% vegetarian diet.

Farm fresh pork can have a better ratio of omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acids, more antioxidants, and less bad fats than commercially raised pork. For example, pigs raised on pasture/wooded area like ours have more exposure to forages, which can increase their omega-3 fatty acids. These fatty acids may help reduce the risk of cardiovascular and autoimmune diseases. Pasture-raised pork can also have up to three times more vitamin D than pork raised in confined spaces. You will notice our meat looks red compared to store bought pork. This is because of the nutrition difference and exposure to sun and natural minerals in the soil. There are no fillers, antibiotics, preservatives or dyes in our meat. We strive to promote healthy clean eating that meets your dietary needs, without compromising flavor and options.

What is a Meat Share?

A meat share is when a farm grows or raises an animal for consumption and organizes the sale, slaughter and butchery of an animal, to “share” amongst a smaller group/community/family. This is why we offer ½ “shares” of a pig as well as a whole. It is like a CSA for Produce - you sign up to receive a portion or a “share” of the crops once harvested.

What are the benefits of buying a meat share?

·       supporting local farmers,

·       ensuring that the meat you put on your table is fresh, with no additives

·       knowing your meat was humanely raised on a healthy diet and humanely processed,

·       buying good quality meat in bulk for the same price per lb regardless of the cut/product VS grocery store cuts which vary in price per lb. and depend on the quality of the cut

·       allows customization for dietary needs (our butcher uses no preservatives, no unnecessary fillers – they can customize your share with less salt for low sodium diets, omit cheese for dairy allergies etc.) – majority of products are gluten free

·       gives the opportunity to learn about whole animal utilization and having access to custom cuts you otherwise might not find in the store
