Reserve Chicks - Easter Eggers
Easter Eggers are a hybrid of the Ameraucana and Araucana breeds. Our Piney Easter Eggers (specially selected breeding stock of Cream legbars, Ameraucana, and Auracana) have been crossed throughout the last few years to develop the most beautiful blue and green eggs, coming out on top as one of our best egg laying breeds producing up to 300 eggs per year! Easter Eggers can typically be identified by their fluffy facial features, including a “beard” and “ear muffs” as well as their legs which are typically indicating what color egg they will lay (i.e. olive colored legs will lay green eggs). Occasionally you will find the eggs will change color/saturation of color throughout the year. There is a chance that the blue gene which creates these unique colors does not pass through, resulting in a cream or tan egg. Easter Eggers can also produce uniquely tinted pink or purple eggs (a brown egg with a heavy bloom) and sometimes even speckled or a dark olive egg. While still considered a family friendly breed, Easter Eggers have less personality and are more independent/active than some of our other breeds. Our Piney Easter Eggers prefer to forage freely instead of hanging around with their humans, but they sure do lay some pretty eggs for you and are generally a hardy low maintenance chicken. Easter eggers do not come in one specific color, but rather they come in various including black, white, blue, reddish brown and mixes of these base colors. The chicks often look like little chipmunks with a reddish color and dark stripes running down their backs.
*In 2022 we added Frizzled Easter Eggers to our breeding program. We have since began phasing out the frizzle gene but due to genetics in some of our breeding stock, there is still a 35% chance of your chicks being frizzled.
Our EE chicks are hatched here on the farm between February through July. Reserve yours now and you can come pick them out right from our brooders once they hatch.
All EE chicks are sold as 1 day-1 week old, unsexed, $10 each. You are charged $1 per chick to reserve, with the balance due at pickup. We follow the buddy system for all chicks, therefore there is a required minimum of 2 chicks per order.
Once our hatch schedule is out, we will contact you with an estimated date your chicks will be hatched. We do our best to hatch as many chicks as we can, but if we cannot fulfil your order we will notify you immediately and refund you.
For biosecurity reasons we are no longer accepting rooster returns, sorry for the inconvenience.
** We do not ship our poultry or waterfowl. Available for local pickup at our farm in NJ only.
