Reserve Chicks - Turken (Transylvanian Naked Neck)
The Transylvanian Naked Neck Chicken AKA “Turken” was our #1 selling chicken in both 2023 and 2024. Is is our highest recommended chicken from our Piney Poultry selection. One of Farmer Patty’s favorite breeds, these hardy & unique looking chickens are easily identifiable. If you can get past their “looks” you will surely fall in love with their docile and friendly temperament. They are commonly misconceived to be a cross between a turkey and a chicken, but the “Turken” is actually 100% chicken, just one with no feathers on it’s neck! They are a healthy hardy breed that fair well in both the hot summers and cold winters of NJ. Turkens are a larger breed and produce approximately 260 eggs per year. Because of this they are considered dual purpose and are often raised for both eggs and meat. Turkens are available in a light buff color, red and black and variations of the 3 base colors.
Our Turken chicks are hatched here on the farm between February through July. Reserve yours now and you can come pick them out right from our brooders once they hatch.
All Turken chicks are sold as 1 day-1 week old, unsexed, $10 each. You are charged $1 per chick to reserve, with the balance due at pickup. We follow the buddy system for all chicks, therefore there is a required minimum of 2 chicks per order.
Once our hatch schedule is out, we will contact you with an estimated date your chicks will be hatched. We do our best to hatch as many chicks as we can, but if we cannot fulfil your order we will notify you immediately and refund you.
For biosecurity reasons we are no longer accepting rooster returns, sorry for the inconvenience.
