Reserve Chicks - Crested Breeds

$1.00

Crested and Polish Chickens are primarily ornamental/pet breeds. Most add them to their flock because they just cant resist their poofy heads and funny demeaner. Most crested and polish breeds are smaller chickens with a lower egg production than some of the other breeds we offer. They are slow growing and not very hardy. Based on our 15+ years experience of raising crested breeds, we have found the chicks are more fragile and require to be under heat longer. We highly recommend researching each individual crested breed below before adding them to your flock. Depending on your flock/chicken coop setup, you may consider for their safety that they may benefit from living in a separate coop to avoid mixing them with your larger breed chickens. Polish and crested chickens are recommended for the more experienced chicken owner. So why do we love them if they’re so difficult? They have a sweet and docile temperament, they’re great for kids and they’re just too cute to resist!

We are offering various crested breeds this year, including mixes of our favorite polish colors creating some unique funky looking chickens! Chicks are hatched here on the farm between February through July. Reserve yours now and you can come pick them out right from our brooders once they hatch.

All crested chicks are sold as 1 day-1 week old, unsexed, $15 each. You are charged $1 per chick to reserve, with the balance due at pickup. We follow the buddy system for all chicks, therefore there is a required minimum of 2 chicks per order.

Available breeds/colors: Buff Polish, Golden Laced Polish, Black and White or Blue (Grey) and White Polish, Appenzeller Spitzhauben (silver variation), Cream Brabanter, White Sultan, and Black Crevecoer.

Once our hatch schedule is out, we will contact you with an estimated date your chicks will be hatched. We do our best to hatch as many chicks as we can, but if we cannot fulfil your order we will notify you immediately and refund you.

For biosecurity reasons we are no longer accepting rooster returns, sorry for the inconvenience.

** We do not ship our poultry or waterfowl. Available for local pickup at our farm in NJ only.
